Sustainability

Genuinely circular.
Not just a claim.

The global biological inputs industry has a provenance problem. Most products travel thousands of kilometres or carry opaque supply chains that cannot be verified by the buyer.

Fermoworks is structurally different. LBF-HO is produced through a circular production model using surplus organic feedstock that would otherwise go to waste. No virgin raw materials, no long-haul freight leg. The circular loop is built into the economics, not added as marketing.

Every input is traceable from source to customer delivery. Every batch carries an independent Certificate of Analysis. Buyers can verify what we say — because we document everything.

♻️

Zero virgin feedstock

LBF-HO is produced using surplus organic material that would otherwise be waste. Fermoworks purchases no virgin raw material. The circular model is the cost model.

📍

Short supply chains

Production happens within New Zealand, close to the growers we supply. There is no long-haul freight leg embedded in the product. NZ-grown, NZ-made, NZ-delivered.

🌱

Live biology, no heat treatment

LBF-HO is sold as a live product, supporting soil biology and microbial diversity in high-value permanent crops from application through to harvest.

📋

Verified provenance

Every batch is traceable from source to the customer IBC. Origin, production date, and laboratory results are documented — not assumed.

🏆

Certification pathway

BioGro NZ input assessment underway. Sustainable Winegrowing NZ alignment. Australian organic input certification (ACO) targeted for Year 2.

Process

From circular feedstock
to verified biological input

Our proprietary production model uses existing infrastructure — no new facility, no capital-intensive build.

1

Feedstock intake & verification

Surplus organic feedstock is collected and assessed for quality before entering production. No off-specification material enters the process.

2

Proprietary biological conversion

Our conversion process runs under Fermoworks' documented quality system and SOPs. Process detail is commercially confidential.

3

Independent laboratory verification

Every batch is held pending a full Certificate of Analysis from an accredited NZ or Australian laboratory. No batch is released without sign-off against the product specification.

4

Despatch in 1,000L IBC totes

Finished product is filled into food-grade IBC totes with full batch documentation. Substrate origin, production site, and CoA travel with every delivery.

Why Fermoworks

What sets us apart

A production-ready business with confirmed capacity, documented processes, and a quality system built around independent verification — not self-certification.

📋

Batch-specific CoA — every time

Every IBC is released against its own independent laboratory certificate. This is not a single run CoA covering multiple batches — it is individual verification at the batch level. This is our standard, not the industry standard.

🔗

Full traceability

Origin, production date, and laboratory results are documented for every batch. Buyers can verify the supply chain right through to their gate — not just the finished product.

🇳🇿

Local supply — no import risk

No currency exposure. No transoceanic shipping delays. No supply disruption from distant commodity markets. The product is made here, tested here, and delivered here — by a team you can call.

🌱

Certifiable sustainability credentials

Our circular production model supports BioGro and regenerative certification pathways. Buyers in certified organic horticulture programmes can use our traceability documentation directly.

About

A different kind of
ingredient business

Fermoworks is based in Hamilton, New Zealand. Breweries have generated spent grain for generations — a byproduct the industry has managed, not used. Fermoworks valorises it, while horticulture imports biological inputs at significant cost and with opaque supply chains.

The Fermoworks model closes that loop. Production runs through a circular production model under our documented quality system — no new infrastructure required, no facility capital, no feedstock cost. Each production site is qualified to our standards before any production begins.

Breweries have generated spent grain for generations. Fermoworks turns it into something horticulturalists actually need.

Regulatory position — NZ

LBF-HO: ACVM-exempt biostimulant/soil conditioner. HSNO Category A. BioGro input assessment underway.
